Josh and guys, that photo is wild. It leaves me wondering if the fish died immediately, or was stuck there stunned and slowly fizzled. I can't imagine what would be going through it's head if it was still aware of things, going from 40+mph to zero in a fraction of a second. It'd likely never been completely still it's entire life!
BTW Josh I'd like to talk with you at some point re: your experience with releasing that grander awhile back. Not sure if the story has been told in detail but I think it should be. I wonder how many other captains have released granders? I think Gene Vanderhoek may have, not sure. I remember talking with him briefly about that, or seeing an inscription in a book that congratulated him for it. Thank gosh you got a good photo of yours, it's one of my fav photos of all time. Here's a pic of a blue that I took in Kona last summer. I swam with a few smaller ones, and one of them was about 400; I'm not sure if it was this one.

Guys- these photos have been around for a while, just recently on another site, they were photoshopped, I think you can find a thread on snopes. Sorry !
