We fished yesterday with Kristin and her friends on the Maximo, while the fishing has definitely taken a beating thanks to the seiner activity in the last week we did manage a fairly decent day with two dorado, a sailfish, and some good action on tunas in the afternoon on the skip-kite up to 90 pounds. But it wasn't easy out there, and most of the boats suffered a skunking.
Sadly, it appears as though the seiners are decimating the massive schools of tuna that have provided us all with such epic action over the last month and a half. By the day there are less and less fish out there, and i'm sure the seiners are chasing what remains until there will be nothing left.
I've noticed a considerable lack of sea life in the past two days, and at least one dead dolphin with net marks and rope all over it. God only knows how many porpoise and dolphin have been killed thanks to the seiner's reckless fishing methods. How the Mexican government can allow this type of devastation is beyond me. They truly need to get their act together before it's too late. Frankly, it makes me sick to my stomach to see the wake of destruction caused by negligence like this.
The only thing we can do now is beg for table scraps, and hope another delivery of action will arrive soon.![]()

I got my wish, thankfully before all this nonsense really took off.

Heck I cant imagine what stories guys like the Osunas and Ocaranzas have of the place pretty 2000s. Reminds me to pick their brains about it next time down.
