JT ...I wonder why the local Mexican Charter Captains are not more active in keeping the purse seiner out of the restricted zone. They are very vocal about other issues .It's their country and their government.

The purse seiners are almost all owned by the cartels of mexico. The cartels are hand in hand with the mexican government. These boats are dual purpose workhorses, carrying other loads besides tuna. Unfortunately the problem with the mexicans is education. Their attitude is, " its our country, we can do whatever we want with it." You want to help out, start sending mexi kids to private schools.

Always seems to come down to education aye? Interesting how the kill rate of fish is probably inversely proportional to the education level of those doing the killing.

If those seiners are owned by cartels, the drug money they make out of the operation probably contributes to at least 90% of their income if you take into account how much tuna goes for down there, unless they export. Their tuna operation probably just pays for the gas.

If you want to see what the place could be like, you can go fish the Marias...well, if you could get a special permit.. I have heard amazing stories of the place. Maybe one day.

They might I don't know... But it's federal property and jail. You get shot at if you get too close. But as corrupt as they are, wouldn't put it past them.... Money talks
