Big Blues, Tunas and Bigger Fiestas...6/23

eal quick one sportsfans...we're getting some fish out at the bank...Steve, Kevin, Jeff, Bogii and Rooster joined us for an early moning 14 hr bank-a-thon on Friday that yielded some action but the water is still shitty out there...although the blue water is only 10 miles from the bank it seems determined to take it's sweet arse time in getting to our honey holes...my patience is stretching...but there's just enough action from some chubby ones out there to keep things interesting...

The skip bait below the kite was on fire at 4pm right on schedule with my prediction...Reskey lost a fish pushing 175#'s when we got cocky with the drag on the light line...Rooster boated a solid one pushing 75#'s and Jeff battled a 100#er right to the boat where it somehow managed to elude the gaff and leader man...there were a few choice adjectives raining down from the tower i can assure you...

Anyway...we made the best of it...and had a superb feast at Margarita's later that night...and into the morning...

Bogii and i somehow talked ourselves into loading up the Torture Chamber at 1am and heading out to the blue water...where just minutes after lines in this morning a 600# class blue marlin demolished our purple and black Pro Soft Grand Master 10' from the transom...the swivel was literally still at the rod tip as we were deploying our long rigger lures when the big girl came up to eat...i almost choked on my tongue as that fish exploded through the surface...it's been a while since i've seen those big blues around...SONOFAGUN amigos those are some truly AWESOME creatures...

Bopa struggled with the fish as i tried to wake everyone up to help clear the lines...Largo jumped out of the rack and gave it his all to get things clear but it wasn't meant to be as the fish pulled a crazy ivan mid-air...reversing it's jump in spectacular fashion only to come crashing down on the mainline and SNAP!!! 600 plus pounds of fury earns it's ticket to fight another day...and makes off with my goddamn Pro Soft on top of it...

After that we had a sailfish and two more smaller blue marlin up to 250#'s up and promptly lost them all...the white/purple/pink Joe Yee was on fire today...calling up both subsequent blues in short order...i'll tell you though...my hook-up to release ratio on these lures is in the shitter right now...looks like i'll be releasing the demons tonight in effort to appease the gods....

We had to pull the plug at noon as we had to get back to the point and meet the rest of the dogs for an afternoon fish...which at this point still hasn't happened...so i'm guessing it'll be straight to the bikini model party at the 4-Seasons later tonight...if only to loosen the joints for Capt Herk's bachelor party downtown which doesn't start till ten...

Anyone want to guess where this is going?

I'm out tomorrow again...not sure if i'll head to the blue water for the blue marlin and billfish or back to the bank to Brazilian grapple with those green-water tunas...time will tell...and i've certainly had a lot tougher decisions to battle with...

Monday is scuba diving day with the big guy's family and then the rest of the day is reserved for Herk and Sue's wedding....

So just in case i'm in a coma come tuesday you'll know where to start the search...

Pendulos amigos...keep the porch light on...

Cool local So-Cal company produces both the Pro-Soft Lures and those "Dirty Birds" that work great in front of any troll lure..

Good people and cool product if you like soft headed lures or have thought about giving them a go here they are.....
