What a fantastic summer we experienced in Shearwater, British Columbia this past year, the weather was beautiful, the fishing was exhilarating and the smile on everyones face were priceless.
Salmon fishing was fabulous this season, we spend most of July in Milbanke Sound, particularly at Cheney point. The Coho, and Chinook fishing was very steady day after day, filling the boat with monster Chinook and feisty Coho was not a problem, when the bite was on it was hard to keep the rods in the water. The only problem was there were so many Coho it was difficult to hunt for that one fish everyone dreams about. Which is why in August we ventured south, to Purple Bluffs, or Cultus Sound. Here we found the Chinook were on average much larger, and the ratio between Chinook and Coho were a lot higher.
Halibut fishing was very plentiful this season, the average for these fish were between 25-55 lbs, and we did not have to go way offshore to find them. A short, inside cruise, south near Namu was where we found the best luck.
Many days of Tyee fishing, laughs, sunburns and excitement made the 2010 season the best year we have ever experienced!!
