Alright sportsfans, i've braved the inclement weather of the west coast for the last week visiting friends and family, traveled for two days from Tofino alllll the way back to Nova Scotia (with a quick stop in Vancouver to load up on flies at my boy Jay's shop Pacific Angler), and am now ready for an all-out assault on the local Atlantic Salmon rivers for the last two days of the season. Problem is, it's hard to get motivated this morning with 50 knots of blowing wind, sleet, and snow. Sigh...time to put the fleece and wool on and man up, there are apparently fish to be caught out there.
If this chitstorm that is October Maritime weather blows over soon, I'm headed back out for another kick at the Giant Bluefin tuna can in effort to hopefully fill one or two more kill tags. But i have to admit, with weather like this i'm thinking more and more about getting on a plane and heading towards the black and blue marlin and yellowfin tuna grounds of Puerto Vallarta and my old friend the Maximo sooner than later.
What, pray tell, is a wandering fisherman to do in the face of such things............????????
These mystical Atlantic salmon better start eating my feathers today, or i'll be putting the switch rods away for the winter, and bidding the Maritimes adieu until springtime. Let us pray amigos, and don the layers of fleece and rain gear in the meantime.....
GIDDY UP!
