I have had the pleasure of talking to Tred on the phone multiple occasions starting when he was first dealing with Genmar as I run a Hydra-sports 100+ miles out of central Florida for yellowfin tuna. I can't thank you enough for the encouragement and motivation you have provided me and many others. Your willingness to share your knowledge selflessly has motivated me to do the same, as I am now running the fish club for our local Hydra-Sports dealer. I even published my first article in Big Game Journal last year giving my best effort to communicate how I fish for wahoo while slow trolling dead baits. As you are now going through probably the biggest challenge of your life, my whole family have you in our prayers.
One of our regular habits in our family is for my son and I to watch your show before he goes to bed( we have most of them on dvr). We've been doing this since your show started( he was three). My brother always comes to visit and fish a couple of times a year. When my son was four, he came down with a couple of friends to do an other side tuna run. My son was beside himself when we came home with a bunch of fish between 60-90# and couldn't wait go bass fishing the next day with the big guys! We took the ski boat out and listened to my four year old bark Barta orders at us as we were catching brim and specs. Finally my brother hooked a good bass that screamed off some serious drag from our 4# Zebco outfit! He coached him through the fight like a professional captain, and when the fish got close, he sprung to action and started to "leader" the fish, constantly looking over his shoulder barking Take!...Take!...Take! as he gingerly brought the fish to the boat for me to net. I share this with you as a reminder how many untold people you have so positively affected. That was truly one of my best trips and we still laugh at how great a time we had with my son. This summer will be his first tuna run and I'm sure we'll hear " one on, two on, three on, it's our time now boys!" I wish you the best in your recovery. I don't know if you remember during one of our first conversations asking about the 120 buoy, it was kind of dead back then, but the last two years the spring has been very productive again. You can consider this a formal invitation to come fish it with us after your rehab.
Good luck and God Bless,
Capt John Fritsch
Hey Tred, Hang in there, and do it The Barta Way if you must. Just do what they say and get well real soon. I just watched your show in Mexico on light tackle. Stay strong and get stronger. Jim Kenoyer

I just listened to the interview that Tred did on bowsite. Very inspiring and a must for all to hear! Thank you for the great message on how we should look at life. I am much more grateful for what I have. God Bless....
As a 13 year old kid I contracted rheumatic fever which affected my heart. The regular sports of high school, which demanded high bursts of energy were out, so I became a hunter and fisherman.
Having had two open heart surgeries, 4 operations for cancer and other physical limations I still believe the Lord is not finished with me just yet.
I have made my own archery equipment and reloaded shells and tied flies. All very enjoyable.
I am now 73 years old and am able to do the above on a more limited basis.
Thanks for your valuable advice and inspiring T.V. series.
Having been a pastor for 32 years I have seen The Lord do many miracles. I will pray that He will use the medical staff and other ways to bring about your healing. The most important healing is that of the soul. These bodies will evetually go back to dust but the eternal part, which God implantec in us, lives on forever.
