Your head will explode!

On the heels of the Carolina builders thread.I go to yachtworld quite often looking at boats.I can never remember all the builders I would like to see.In the search block I just typed in carolina nothing else.I could'nt take anymore after the first 13 pages or so.Just about every carolina builder and boat for sale comes up.Alot of names I dont even know just thought I would pass this along.

As a surveyor we have to put a "Fair MArket Value" on a boat. How do you think we feel when we have to look through that stuff. Some priced from $1000 to 1,000,000,000,000,000. No matter where you put the price somone is getting offended. The seller "No way my b boat is worth way more then that, I paid XXXX for it ten years ago".
Buyer "Well if you go on yacht world there are O boat for Y price and H boat for Z price so I just think that is alot of money for that boat.

Mr. Surveyor: "Mr seller, Im sorry to inform you that you paid to much money for this boat ten years ago, also in the ten years that you have owned it it has never seen a scrub brush or one ounce of polish. Also the small crack in the hull next to the rudder where you ran aground and ripped off the running gear is leaking alittle more then I feel comfortable with, BUT you do have yourself a NICE boat."

Now "Mr Buyer You are comparing O boat and H boat to B boat. NOne of the three are comparable boats. Maybe if O boat or H boat is such a good deal then you should buy one of those. The subject boat being surveyed is B boat so I am giving you my unbiased opnion of such. Have a great day and good luck with what ever boat you buy.

Its the story of my life but I love it.

it's the ethos of life. if you own a boat it has a value to you. it takes you where you want to go. you cant put a value on it because its intrinsic. how can you, as a surveyor possibly say..........this is worth....????????? you cant! the buyer needs to step to the plate and fulfill his desire. all on his own. now a production boat, well its like a car. but life is so much more complicated. if its worth it, you'll figure it out. if not, you figured it out.
