Yanmars diesels?

Is 1700 hour a lot of hours for a set of Yanmar diesels?

If they've been maintained well thats not much at all... Gas engines that would be near the end but diesels can go and go. Even my pieces of crap peninsulars have 3400 hours...

Which model Yanmar? Generally I would say its not a lot of hours but the model and HP will change the answer too.

1,700???

Got at least 30,000 hours on my old Yanmar T2. Just had the engineer check it out 2 days ago.Transmission bearings and seals replaced,1 injector serviced and good as new. He reckons it will be good for the next 30 years.

I've found them very low maintenance engines.Last work done was a recon cylinder about 5 years ago.

I have only worked on a few in past, about 4-5 yr. ago. As long as they are maintained and cared for. They are built to rack up the hours and last a life time. I worked on a tugboat that was built back in 1950, updated I believe in the late 60's with the engine it currently has, granted it wasn't a Yanmar but it was a diesel. The last I was on that boat it had 59,000 hours on it. Other than regular maintence and a few replaced parts along the way she still fired up like she was brand new.
