Yanmar

We plan on repowering our 32 Albemarle with Yanmar 6LYA-STP (370hp) with ZF IRM 220A gear. Any comments or suggestions?

We had 3126 Cats in it but they were just too big for the engine room and almost impossible to work on. We've already pulled the Cats out.

Yanmars

The Yanmar 370hp are good engines and a good fit for the 32 Albe. You should be happy with them. Try to get them from Masters in FL.

Yanmar 370 is a very nice package for the 32. I think you'll be pleased.

I had the spelling of their name wrong, its Mastery not Masters. Their main number is 1-800-545-4574. Hopefully you will be able to deal with them since techincally you are in Mack Boring's district. Mastery has been a great help in the past where as my dealing with Mack Boring have been a pain.
Also Albemarle should be a wealth of knowledge on the setup of these engines in your express since they were the preferred engine when Albemarle and Cat were having issues over de-tuning their new 3126 to keep them in 300/350 hp range.

Home Port: alexandroupolis, greece
Best Catch: my girlfriend, she loves me.
Occupation: My Job? At 52, making sure i die with a smile on my face. Thats my new job!
just asking

i am putting 3126-350 hp engines in a 29 blackfin.they are tight but the 3116s were also. i got used to it. there really was nothing i could not access, i just needed to spend the time.a couple questions..... do you need to change the wheels? the yanmars turn much faster, dont they?were you happy with the 3126 other than the tight fit?you probably need more horse anyway, dont you?i cant wait to see the final fit. and i love the dealer network of caterpillar. not to be rude, but i dont think you,ll find the same with yanmar.cat is everywhere.that made it easy for me. filters, parts, etc, just a short drive from almost anywhere. good luck with it though. a friend has yanmars and he loves them.

Are you doig the repower yourself? Carlton Layton in Edenton did ours, and knows more about those boats than anyone.
