Yamaha f150 4 strke oil type? Synthetic or mineral based?
Yamalube has introduced a newer 5 weight synthetic... Would this offer any benefits in a F150?
Does synthetic in general? Or stick with thee ole yamalube?
Just curious

How old and how many hours on your 150 4 strokes? If they are running good, I would stick with what I have been using.

"Life is what you make it!"
Due to the age of the motor Yamalube gear oil non -synthetic . You always want to use what has been used since day one and since synthetic was not available for your model year stick with the regular yammie gear lube.
One thing I have learned with light duty trucks after many miles of use eventually on a GMC Sonoma truck the truck actually started to leak oil switched to regular 10-40 oil leak stopped Marine applications can not be that far behind...Just haven't heard of it happening on a marine application.
Do not use aftermarket oils yes there are less money but they are not proven in my mind yet. Yamaha has had limited failures with gear cases if cared for properly.
Since it sounds like you have a new boat pull the prop and check behind it for fishing line it will save you a lot of aggravation. If you will be trailering your boat, be sure to do this often even not a bad idea to check it frequently
