If you don't mind me asking what problems are you having?

We have a bunch of 300's running around with well over 600 plus hours on them problem free

Just curious thats all. What year are the motors?

I'll take a wild stab here, my guess would be the first year they were released.

Ever motor seems to have issues the first year. My 200's are great, but 4 years ago when I put them on, it was the 250's that were trouble, I guess they had just been released a year or two before.

I know there was a guide in hatteras that was losing business daily at the time because he got caught up in a bad 250.

These things always work themselves out.

You know what the weirdest thing is that I do not understand with motors is that up here in the Northeast at least by me is that I hear of a lot of problems with both Yamaha and Mercury down south. The problems that I hear are consistent across the board but yet we do not have the same problems up here.

Me I hate Verado's and curse up and down at them and the motors are pretty frowned upon, some love em I just hate them. But down south they are sworn by

    So

If I remember correctly it was 01-02 ish 250 HPDI's every once in a while had high pressure fuel pump issues but nothing consistent.

The biggest things with the HPDI motors are maintenance.

O2 sensors need to be cleaned or replaced
High pressure fuel filter need to be replaced near a 100 hours
VST screens need to be cleaned

A common dealer issue is not adjusting the oil linkage rod and the motors over oil themselves causing frequent stalling issues and premature spark plug replacement

I ran boats with 4 sets of them during my freelancing this year. Between, 65 and nearly 900 hours and have not heard the first complaint? Verados though on the other hand...

    Yeah......just ask Admin!!
By the way, is his boat back in action???

On another note........I think Nauti Dog had some initial Verado problems last year, but they have been great so far this year.

    NOPE

    Almost

Got her back together and seatrialed severe knocking shut her down, called Mercury told them to stuff it and the rep was down all day on his boat. Fired it up no knock finally got it to do it and its intermittant problem with the super charger. Hopefully mid week if all goes well.

I hate his boat so tired of looking at it!

To me verados are louder. It is also my understanding you have to run them on Premium 93. I doubt they tell you that when you buy them, but Yamaha should really push that as a feature/benefit. Two stroke or Four, .20 less per gallon of gas adds up.

I had the oil issue with mine. One started burning more than the other. Took two trips in to get it straight but they did.

I put 87 in them most of the time, but sometimes 89. I try to do every other trip that way.

Not punchy at all!I tell John every day I hate his boat

Not to mention we have 85 hours of labor in to working on them plus parts not to mention that even though its warranty the dealer pays for the parts out of pocket till complete just the supercharger alone is $4300.00

Once all this is done she will be tip top shape but till then it just makes a mess out of my schedule. Schedule the completion and something else comes up with it then back logging my schedule, pain in the rear for sure.

I will love her when she is all better!
