Yamaha 200 EFI OX66 kunundrum
Anyone have a clue? Having an issue this year with either the oil pump or could it be something more. Three times this year my oil tank on the motor has sucked down to the bottom line level subesequently shutting the motor down to idle speed. I pull the cowling off, flip the emergency switch to pull oil from the reserve tank in the gunwale and things would be fine the rest of the day. Over this past weekend it happened again but this time the switch doesn't work?!
To add I notice the battery light flashing. Now I've charged the batteries a couple of times this year to keep them up, just for the record, and have pulled the reserve tank out, replaced the inline filter, took the oil pump motor apart to check for foriegn objects or mechanical issues and all looked good. With the battery light flashing (it's not always flashing either but often at lower rpm's) could the voltage regulator/rectifier be the source of the gremlins? Or could it just be the oil pump?
To add I just had it serviced and asked the mechanic to check all above and said the pump & regulator checked fine. Not to mention the clean bill of health cost me about an ounce and a half worth of gold!
