It’s amazing the different cultures in boating. Out here on the West coast, a trip engine CC is a rare bird indeed, and if you did buy one, you would never resell a boat with trips, people just don’t accept them. In S. Florida, they laugh at you unless you have at least 3 engines, 4 preferred it seems.

Regarding the Venture 34’, I have friend with one running twin Yamaha 225’s. I’ve been on it, it runs just fine and he is happy with the performance. Tops out around 40-42, with decent economy at a 26 mph cruise.

I also do not get this sentiment that you have to 3 engines “in case one goes out”. A run to the Cortez Bank out here is 100 miles one way, if I lost an engine I guess I’d come back in a 8-10 kts on my boat. If it happened once, I’d get a spare set of props as suggested earlier, if it happened twice I’d get a new brand of engine.

I think the twin 350 Yamaha’s would be the perfect match for the 34’ Venture. Not knocking trips, they’re just not for me.

    Venture logic

I had to take our 39 Venture back to the factory for some warranty work and I asked the president of the company about the 34 Venture boat test. He said they are not concerned about the top speed of their boats like other large center console manufacturers. They set there boats up for the best cruise speed. With this past summers fuel prices they are trying to get the best fuel burn possible at a comfortable cruising speed. The third engine provides a higher cruise speed @ the same gph burn of the twin engine model.

yes, but what is the "breakeven" point on the cost of the third engine?

I think the Venture would run close to if not better at cruise with the twin 350 yami application. And if someone was to buy the Venture with trip v-rods they wouldent be worried about the fuel bill anyway.JM2C
