Wood Boat Owners ?

Can the hull of a 20 year old Ricky boat handle a pair of 450 Cummings without re-fitting the structure of the hull ? Vibration, torque, ect ? What would be the main concerns with this re-power ?

How big is the Ricky boat? What did it originally have for power?

It is a 41 she had volvos originally, I'm sure you probably know the boat it is the old Brigand that stayed at White Marlin Marina.

I know the boat and the origanal owner and family that had her built.I remember when she was built and came north just as a hull ,house and bridge.I would think that she is fine with the cummins.I saw her not long ago,I think she is a killer rig.Good Luck with her!

41'

Yes it can hold up to the power. The volvos were like 1900 pounds a piece plus the gear. As long as they did a good job with the motor mount install, the hull will be fine. 450hp is just about right. That boat needs new fuel tanks from what i saw. They were the origionals made out of wood and then glassed over. The rudder ports and shaft ports looked a little worn as well.

I'm sure it would be fine but while you have the power out it wouldn't be a bad plan to do a little beefing up. Good luck with your boat hunt. Sounds like a great choice!! Let me know if you ever are looking for a Capt.
