Although I'm not so fond of the early two piece saloon window design, I really like the new look on "Boomer". That would be a sweet looking boat with an open flybridge.

As to that walkaround, that looks real nice!

Imagine that stretched out to 35'-38' with a couple of Volvo IPS drives......

The hobo was jack whiticars personal charter boat. she used to rescue boaters in trouble in stuart inlet when the coast guard couldnt. They are some of the best rough sea boats I have fished on. I used to run a 40 ft r a 100 miles one way in seas that kept 60 footers at the dock in tournaments. I love their split window line also!It so unconforming and special looking. the craftsmanship at the yard attracts all kinds of other custom boats for rework.

FS: 1959 40' Whiticar Shearwater FBSF

If any of you have an interest in a 1959 40' Whiticar Shearwater flybridge sportfisherman, please contact me via email privately to discuss it. The boat has been undergoing a complete refit from the keel up, I've invested over $300k into it, and its still not finished. I'm in over my head, I don't have the time nor the energy to devote to it any longer. I hate to see her go, but at the same time I hate to see her just sit.

Email me at HSL1048@gmail.com for all of the pertinent information. This is the perfect opportunity for someone looking for a pedigreed custom boat with history, at a stage just waiting for your personalized finishing touches.

    Thanks,

    Harry

I got to spend some time with Jack Whiticar around 1988 and he was telling me that the family is originally from cape may court house area. His most famous Hobo was the 48 with mercedes Painted RED way back in the 70s I believe he rescued people in stuart inlet with that boat when the CG refused to go out! He was a gentleman captain too.I had the good fortune to run a 40 ft up here in jersey in some big tournaments,What a sea boat! We went out when 60 ft plus boats turned around because of seas.We caught on those days too!Tuna love that rough water.

    Kevin,
there is a 35' here in Wanchese that used to charter out of Pirates Cove a few years ago. It too is named the "Hobo" and I was told that it was one of Jacks boats also, Capt. Steve McGaskill used to own and run her.

The boat was bought by John Bayliss at Bayliss boatworks and he was going to bring her back to life but has since sold it to another guy down here. It is in really bad shape and needs a lot of work. She was a good looking rig back in her time, hope to see her in the water again and not die a slow death on the hill.

    HOBO

the HOBO here in Wachapreague is the 46ft red hulled sportfisher that is mentioned in the above post .

Capt Ray Parker ownes the boat and currently fishes it on offshore charters at 85 yrs young . he has held a charter capts lic longer than any working capt on the east coast . he also won the WMO on this boat in 1991 .

I was told that she may be forsale and can be had for under 200K . she has fairly new john deere power that was installed in the winter of 2006 .

    Small world

a legendary boat with a legendary captain. Ive heard of Capt Ray Parker. I used to travel the coast and the bahamas with a good friend Capt Ron Jones. I just saw where the Original and famous 46 Warren O neal was for sale in costa Rica. I wish I had the excess money in this economic time to buy either one of these two boats.I heard that hobo was one hell of a sea boat. All the bad sea stories of stuart Inlet never threatened that boat. Skirt Chaser thanks for dredging up old memories. It was like hanging out with ernest hemingway being around those legends.
