the white stuff is taking over.

having to replace my vst screens every 50 hrs now. on the right is a clean one. on the left is what i pulled out today. it apears that this residue wich im told is sodium chloride, is getting past the vst. wich means it is going through my injectors. the $7,000.00 question is -is it going to clog the injectors and cause engine damage due to the fact that it is a direct inject. crazy this stuff is getting through (2) 10 micron filters and the regulator as well as vst. Anyone have any suggestions, i'm all ears.

I thought it was sodium sulfite? At least that's what I thought I read. Sodium chloride is just regular "salt".

I've heard some guys go to 2 micron Racors and it helped them. Two 10 micron filters really don't do much as what passes through filter #1 will go through filter #2.

I don't know what kind of boat you have, but perhaps the long term fix would be a new fuel tank.

Oops, just saw you have a Parker 2520, same boat as me. What year is it? I have a '01 and have no Ethanol problems. (I hope I didn't jinx myself !)

boat is a 2001. i am using startron. poped open the fuel tank and it is amazingly clean. had it pumped over the summer. still this is the second time the vst has been changed in the last 100 hrs.will be removing and cleaning injectors this weekend. and yes i talked to andy and am going to a 2 micron.this really sucks. i hope ethanol destroys some senator or congressmans boat so they do away with this crap.

    Rob,

Please let us know how the 2 micron filter works for you. Are there any concerns about creating too much vacuum with a filter this fine? Will you run at after the 10 micron?

Also, have you contacted Parker directly? Perhaps they have some input.

replacing the 10 micron with the 2. from what i am told the two micron will of course clog faster and i will experiance an rpm loss similar to a vst screen being cloged. so i guess that would be the que to replace filter. rather do that than open the vst two or three times a year.

It's really odd. I have a Yamaha 250hp Ox66, and the same year boat and presumably same type of tank as you. We've had Ethanol fuel here in CT for about 5 years.

Weird why you're having this problem.

That was my question ^ - where are you getting the fuel? If it's the same place, try another source to see if that clears up the problem.
