Where to buy lumber to build a duck skiff??

After seeing all these nice pics of some pretty sweet duck boats i have caught the itch and i wanna build a skiff of my own. Nothing to complicated just a 16ft skiff with about a 5ft beam or so. Im wondering where is the best place to find marine grade lumber?? I live in maryland just north of annapolis any suggestions? thanks

Many people here in Maine buy from:

    http://www.mainecoastlumber.com/

They are a great resource - you may want to give them a call and see if they know of someone similar in your area.

    Best I can think of....

Depending on What you wanna build it out of Exotic Lumber in Annapolis is a good place to start. The carry a full line of domestic and imported Lumber as well as marine sheet plys such as Okume and Merita

click on this link and than click and than click on "flash movie" to see what they have available for boat building materials.

I have a whole bunch of Okume plywood I will sell you at 1/2 the price per sheet. You would have to come and get it in Delaware. PM me for details.

    rip,

Also check out http://www.gatorboats.com/ Plans are basic but at 25 bucks they are a vaule.

I recently ordered the plans for the "duckhunter" and if you wanna look at them I am right around the corner from you. (right around the corner from Earilgh heights FD).

I'm looking to build something this fall even if its just a one man "hybrid" blind boat.

    You can also look here.

    http://www.deanwood.com/

I know they sell to a lot of custom builders in Fla but deliver up and down the east coast.

Capt D i might have to take you up on that offer and look at your plans. I have a pretty good idea and a decent drawing of the skiff i wanna build. I need a good boat that can handle some chop for use in the magothy and in the severn.

For a duck boat, why not just use a/c fir plywood?Once built, just keep it painted and out of the weather when not in use and it will last a life time.
