So do you think changing to a cat would be the direction you might be leaning toward?

My first boat was a 24 airslot weekender. A buddy and I bought it and we spent quite a bit of time fixing it up.

It's heavy, and stable. Those slots, or wings on the sides, get beat up pretty good and I do recall there were a lot of stress cracks underneath. Transom is pretty thick, but is wood cored. When I went to drill for trim tabs the bit came out moist. Bad sign.

Engine access was reasonable. Ours had a 351 Windsor raw water cooled engine in it.

I moved on to a 24 Blackfin with twin diesels several years later. No comparison in ride quality. The deep V Blackfin hull is a dream but does rock, and suck fuel. In my opinion for the style of fishing I was doing, the Blackfin beat the Airslot hands down. I also am not a fan of outdrives. The Blackfin had twin inboards.

That Blackfin was a wet running boat, though. With the Airslot you had to get into some really snotty weather to call it wet running.

Still wish I had the Blackfin. It was a real nice boat.
