What are you looking to do?

First off you can fiberglass bead board or Pink(or Blue) Dow Styrofoam - If you use Epoxy - Polyester or vinylester will eat it.

If you are looking for pour in place foam that you glass over, then here - http://uscomposites.com/foam.html

For Divinycell or urethane foam sheets... http://www.fiberglasssupply.com/

I would like to make a couple of work floats, we are doing some seawall repairs and need to be in the water. Years ago I made some floats for my duck hunting blinds. I fiberglassed them with regular fiberglass resin and woven. I am sure there are better materials out there now, I just don't know what.

Thanks,

Capt Rick

Frankly for what you'd spend on resin, glass and foam - not to mention labor, I'd look at the Taylor Dock floats... http://www.discountmarinesupplies.co...CK_FLOATS.html

Poly shell filled with closed cell foam...

Clt. Capt.

I need something really light, strong and can take a beating. I am also thinking I might need several of them and it would might be nice if I could make them myself. Right now my labor isn't worth squat.

12" x 12" timbers bolted together make a much more durable and stable work platform. They are heavy though and you need equipment to handle them. You may be able to buy a couple old ones from a commercial dock building contractor.

How big do you need them?

The poly floats are like tupperware - they will take a beating. Fiberglass ones are gonna be heavier to take that kind of beating.

That said, you can use plywood to make a form. Line it with plastic sheeting and use the 2lb/cuft pour foam to make the blocks, then peel off the form and plastic when set and glass over them...
