you could always buy a set of the daewoo diesels..

cheaper by far and has 245 hp .. same size as yanmars. if that boat was not prop pocketed I'd be telling you to go outboards!

They are smallblocks-crusader mpi's 5.7l 330hp with velvet drive 1.91:1 trannys. the engines are counter rotating. The props are 4 blade nibral federal EQ 18x18 with a #2 cup and 3 blade bronze federal eq 18 x 18 with a #8 cup. the numbers are quite similar between the two-been tuning them this season.

you can do better than that...
those engines, you want to see them "bump" the rev limit...that rpm number,is that with the boat fully loaded ?? fully loaded being, full fuel, enclosure down and you duplicated the weight you carry ??

The props are damn close to crusader specs. they want a max full load rpm of 4800 and min of 4400. max rpm light should be 5000. i haven't had a chance to test her light but am more concerned with a full load aka 250+ gallons of fuel, ice, 5 guys, and gear. with the tower, enclosure, 22 degree vee, and for other 27's with the same power i am as good as its going to get. if i went with just a hardtop that should give me 2 knots or so but i love the tower. My main concern is that the engines are turning free and easy. She hops right up on plane and gets to max rpms quickly. i may try another tweaking of the bronze wheels. the 4 bladers are ultra smooth and handle much better with the pocket drives.

Inregards to a selling price, not really sure because the market is so bad right now but in all reality if you consider what you are getting i don't feel 30k unreasonable. if someone is really interested in her the message and i can provide details but i would not give her away. the engines/drivetrain have 400hrs.

How does this boat handle trolling or a drift in a beam sea?

On the troll she handles fine, i use the autopilot all the time trolling due to the small rudders @ low speeds=annoyed helmsman. She is tender in a beam sea drifting due in part mostly to the deep vee with the tower increasing the pendlum effect. Since i do mostly trolling or am on the hook, its not a factor for me.
