    Waypoints, Garmin, Excel....I give up

I just spent the better part of the day trying to convert a Excell spread sheet of waypoints in a format which my Garmin software can use....

I must have tried 10 different software programs and I still have no idea how to do it...Does anyone know how to do it.

Can I email you a file and have you convert it for me.

I need help before I throw my Dell out my office window.

    Thanks

please explain your delima a little more--- what is it you are trying to get your Garmin to read?.. i.e, is your problem a # conversion problem or is it a format/syntax problem?

    Ok here's the deal.

    Garmin 182c plotter

Also I have this marineupdater kit from Garmin

"A USB Card Reader, blank 16 MB data card, and MarineUpdater software is included in the Marine Data Management Kit. This kit also allows you to plan a trip or back up your waypoints and other critical data right on your PC."

I also have a excel spreadsheet with 300 numbers

I can enter the waypoints one by one and then upload them to the card and then to the 182 but thats a lot of work.

So I need to convert the Excel spreadsheet into a form that the Garmin software can read. I have tried CVS, TAB.

There most be some way to export from the Excel sheet into a Garmin
    format.

    Does this make sense?

I dont have the software t this should work. manually load a couple of waypoints into the software and export them using the export funtion under File tab. (it shold be there). either excell or text file. then look at the fie prooduced. that should give you an idea of how to try a improt of the waypoints.

Have you used the Garmin Marine Updater kit to update ANYTHING on your 182C?? The reason I'm asking is that according to the Garmin web site, the 182C is not campatible with the Marine Update Kit....see this link....

    http://www.garmin.com/products/marin...oductsPop.html

Also, check Page 72 of your owners manual. According to that page, the 182C can only communicate with another NMEA device, a PC or another Garmin device. You "may" be able to transfer the data by connecting your PC directly to Port 1 and then go to your communications tab and follow the prompts from there.

You can also call Garmin tech support. Usually those guys are pretty good IMO.

    Good Luck!

Yes, I can update from the card reader to my 182. The only thing I can not do is use the automatic update feature that comes with the Marine Updater.
I have to manually load the update on the card and insert into my 182.

Here is the file I am trying to work with saved as CVS
