    Volvos

I am thinking about purchasing some Volvo diesel engines (KAMD44s) from a dealer. These types of engines are not overly large engines (each puts out about 260Hp and weighs abot 1500 pounds so they aren't small either). They have been completely rebuilt and come with a 1 yr warranty. Anyone have an idea for what I should be paying? They are about 10 years old and prior to being rebuilt had 400 hours on them.

Under 700 horses buy a cummins

If I were in the market for a motor or motors under 700 horse power I would buy cummins.

The 42 series was the worst of the KADs. They did not upgrade the cylinder liners when they added the supercharger to the 41 series to become the 42 and they give out due to the increased heat. They upgraded them in the 43 series, which are much better. They took this engine all the way up to the KAD 300 and then switched to the D Series common rail engines. I would not touch a 42 series with a 10' pole.

Parts for the volvos are rediculous and the wait is forever, i must say volvo loves o-rings so be prepared to have a nice stock of them, last year waited three weeks for a set!

I hate tamd40s but they are fuel efficient!
