Volvo Pente outdrive prop removal

I have heard that one negative about volvo penta outdrives is that once the prop is seized on it is very difficult to get off, almost impossible.

When I bought my boat I did not know about this issue. I went to take off the props and one set came off no problem and the other would not budge. We tried just about every trick in the book. I figured I would just leave it on until I hit something or it was absolutely neccessary to take it off. Now it is absolutetly neccessary to take it off. So does anyone have any hints or ideas on how to get these props off?

thanks

Do you still need help?

Have you found a solution?

If not, is your out drive Duo ProP?

I get mine off on a regular basis (simply to change the anodes upstream from the prop...

I had a sticky set only the first time... but never after... let me know if your problem is solved, if not I'll give you few tips if you want.

It is Duo Prop. I am not gonna try until I get back in town later next week.

One side comes off easily. The other side is seized. It is just in the inside prop. The outer prop comes off easily. I need to get it off so I can change the zincs (anodes?)

Jaws I will give you a call.

thanks
Bill

Puller

I have made a puller, dead Easy...

Screw back the outer cone, you can rest the center puller on the retaining bolt.

Tension on the puller

Gentle (or not so) knock with a piece of wood on the side of the prop, should unjam it.

Upon re installation I clean the two shasts and grease all the components... never had any trouble ever since... and I have done lots of work on these DP Drive.

Let me know if I can help further.
