Viking 48 v. Jersey Cape 48

I have been researching the JCs over the last few weeks. They seem to be very well built. My questions are about fit and finish, quality, and ride. Can anyone add input over the ride of the JC 48?

I havn't been able to find a price on a JC 48? Anyone care to take a guess?

That being said, what are the differences between the JC 48 and a Viking 48?

Thanks

the difference,

in a fight the viking wins! hands down they build such a fine boat.....like joe frazier [cant stand ali] you gotta give it to the champ. until they get knocked out. viking! it will not be easy to do that either. that company just plain thinks.....with a view to the horizon. wish i had one. a 43 would be nice. if fuel was just a little cheaper. or i wasnt so cheap!

RIDE - I personally have been on the Jersey Cape 48 – it is a very Dry boat on a crappy day at sea! If you know “ Wayne Puglise “- President & Builder of Jersey Cape Yachts –then your questions about the Fit & Finish and the Quality & Care that goes into every boat that he has built, has all ready been answered in many posting on the Sportfishermen.com ! As far as the Price, just email Wayne or I and we can discuss the price with you. As far as the differences between the JC 48 & Viking 48 – I’m going to take the 5th amendment on that answer, because I’m “Bias” !!!!! But as 48 ft Conv. goes, it is a BIG 48 in size!

I fished aboard a 48 Jersey Cape with C-18 Cats during the 2007 Beach Haven Tournament. We ended up winning the Tuna Division for Overall Weight. The boat was extremely dry and had a very soft ride. Fit and finish is top notch and I know Jersey Cape will customize more than most production builders. If you are going to fish it offshore, I suggest riding both when it is really nasty!

I would consider the resale on the boat. Its only a matter of time before it has a 4sale sign.

havent ridden on a 48 JC, but I was not very impressed with the 48 viking I worked on not so long ago. Ride was slightly better than OK, but wallowed bad in a following sea, was wet in a 4' head sea, and is still, to date, the only boat I've ridden on that took a NON-BREAKING 6' swell over the gunnel trolling beam-to, meaning the boat leaned into the swell face and stayed there. doused both 130's in salt water. the pit, bridge, and accesories were very nice, but I was not impressed with the ride at all.

I agree some day you will have to resale the boat, and at the moment I believe Viking gets the nod. The JC could be the best ride on the water but nobody knows about the boat. One reason why Cavalier had a hard time its all about the name. What is it? It would be easier to sell the Viking in the future. If the Viking does not turn you on look at another popular boat. Or be ready to take a big hit on resale thats all.

if at time of purchase the JC is priced significantly better, which it probably is, then why wait until resale to get your money, you can save that up front at purchase. resale will take care of itself if you take care of the boat, and by the time you sell maybe more people will "demand" that JC. i personally think the Viking ride sux!
