    Vicem Yachts

What's the story with Vicem Yachts?

Looking at their pictures they seem to make a nicely appointed boat. But for the size of the boats and the yacht quality looks of their boats when compared to some production boats and some Carolina boats of the same size, some of these Vicems seem like a good deal.

    For example here's one:

    http://www.yachtworld.com/core/listi...turl=vicemusa&

The pictures of the boat look great. Can’t tell about the fit or finish, and I don't know about the ride characteristics, but if it's just judged by looks... It looks like they make a real nice boat for a respectable price.

Are they using paper thin veneers, all show and no go?

Is it me, that I've become so numb to the prices of boats that a 63 boat with all the bells and whistles like this one could be offered at what seems like a great price. Is it even a great price 1.85 Million. It seems to me that it is when compared to a Hatteras, or a Scully boat of similar size.

So what's the real story about this manufacturer?

Seen one on the hard, offshore, and in the slip. Nice lines, until you get to the bottom. Picture the bottom of a barge. Sorry to Vicem owners, but its just my humble observation.

I have surveyed one. Unbelievable wood work on the interior. The rest of the boat is a piece of shit. Sorry I call it how I see it.

Ah a professional opinion. Please elaborate.

    I'm just real curious.

Firtz I suspected the ride may have something to do with it. Maybe their just dock queens.

I'd still love to hear pitch baits story in detail.

I agree. It is by far the flattest bottom I have ever seen on a fishing boat. The hull bottom kind of resembles a carolina skiff.

I believe they are built in Turkey, lower labor costs may explain the lower cost.

Ding Ding Ding. Only reason their boats are cheaper is because they are built in a boatyard in Turkey. They are supposed to be comparable to a Carolina or production boat, key word being supposed. I've never seen one or been on one I just know that little bit of information about the company.

I realize that they're made in Turkey and that the labor costs are probably much less. I'm sure they don't have the regulations and restrictions imposed on businesses in this country.

They're still putting in nice systems which all cost good money, they have transport costs, I guess if people are working for a dollar a day you could certainly produce them at a lower cost, but is that it?

Because if so I pity the domestic builders.

I'd like to see Pitch baits survey. Now that would be more revealing.

I'm certainly no tin the market, they just happened to catch my eye since the first one was brought over. Just as a student of boats I'd just like to know more. If there is more.
