Verado 275

Can anyone here tell me a little bit about how this optic cable and synchronizer for the steering and throttle control works. I really don't have much info on it but it seems really cool. I heard some guys talking about it at the AC boat show in the Merc booth, but they were really busy at their booth so I didn't bother to chat.
I know that they look bad ass and they seem like they are going to be changing the outboard market with these motors. I also heard that Yammies are going to be very difficult to buy unless they are alredy here in the states sitting at some shop. Something to do inporting them here. So if you are looking for a new yammy I guess you may want to get going with it, but then again it could just be a roomer like anything else.

Great engines!

I've been doing lots of research on the various new engines that are on the market, and the new Verados really sound like outstanding powerplants! The optic cable operates by sending a signal from the control box under the throttle housing back to the motor, and the motor shifts and advances throttle according to input from the throttles. There are no mechanical cables to bang or clunk in and out of gear. It is fly by wire technology. This has been used on bigger sport fishing yachts for a while now. The input on the throttles is supposed to be immediate and very responsive, as you can see from the gentleman who ran the Whaler with twins. The auto-sync operates by keeping the engines at the same speed automatically. I believe this functions by the computer sensing that the speeds are within a certain range of each other and brings them into equillibrium. It really is quite a system! Another thing that I have heard from many people is that the electro-hydraulic steering is PHENOMENAL! From the independent tests I've read, they seem to be the best engine at mid range operation for power, acceleration, quietness, and fuel economy. Test engines that they've ran non-stop have lasted to 10,000 hours and better.

Oh s h t look who it is man , i thought you feel off the face of the earth . Hope all is going well for you .

I am very excited about getting trips on the new boat. And as adam bomb says they seem to be doing very well . I asked tons of people in miami about these moters and was not able to find anyone that was upset with them or having any trouble with them.

Every one i spoke with just said "change oil change plugs and fish " Hope that holds true , my luck with motors has never been good so im looking for my luck to change this season !
