    Urgent HELP needed

    Guys,
    Firstly Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.............
    I Just purchased a brand new 225 Optimax. Problem starts at 3200 rpm, its as if there is a rev limiter on it?????
    Checked fuel for water all clear.....Had the motor hooked up to computer and there are no diagnostic problems. Tested fuel and air pressure both 100% fine. I am absolutley dissapointed..........The motor is 1 hour old and has been doing this from the start. I have a manufacturers warranty but is this common with the Optimax motors or has anyone come across such a problem.

    What year is the motor?

    Direct air injectors was a common trait/failure on them for many years.

    It could be numerous things a dealer would be the best bet if you have check all the norm's. They can plug it in and get it squared away pretty quickly. Also sometimes when reinstalling the cowlings a wire gets hung up and gets disconnected and causes stupid problems, make sure everything is tight under there.

    Do yourself a favor in the future get yourself a factory extended warranty on her, you will be thanking your lucky stars if you have problems years from now. Those injectors run 700ish each retail with 6 of them on the motor.

    First off Happy Holidays... second ..Merc should be answering this question for you..

    if this motor is new they should be all over it... we have had an engine in the shop since Memiorial day weekend... nope I am not happy and guess what the other one still runs great.. frustrated big time with this ourselves but thats customer service for ya... I think that if you are in good with the administration here and Card Joe you can get somewhere... but whatever people are learning at the schools they go to is not that good if they cannot fix things.. don't get too frustrated ... I have been for a long time and we have paid out of our own pocket enough to replace the whole friggin' powerhead... especially when people point thier finger at you and say fuel... anyway look again at all your connections, filters etc.. and good luck. PS: I will never buy Merc again myself and I do hope people from Merc look at this.. we have missed so many family and friends trips on our boat this year and the time lost on the warrantee sucks! going on another boat again this week to the Islands instead of taking my wife and 4 other friends to the Bahamas for new years... think I am not frustrated?? PM card Joe he may get back to you...or Jer may have some info or names to call.. I have two mercs / yama's for sale with 451 and 491 hours with extended warrantees ... just hope they can get the 1 running by the time I get back. funny how the engines run on a new tank, run together, run off the same fuel, and nobody does nothing but say fuel... merc warrantee pays shop price.. you pay full $100.00 plus per hour...must be your fault ...right??? thanks for the call / PM back Card... hope your mechanic can help him out ... after all it's the holidays... funny how you can spend way over $27k and get no customer service in 2008/9 ...which way are we going in America again???

    Mary... the injectors are not covered... nothing fuel related is anymore..

    just call the merc warrantee department... best thing to do is know everything about your engine you can on the fuel side anymore and people have to start fighting this ethanol crap someday... do you know it is totally against all airplane rules to add ethanol??? ....think about that one...

    I m felling your pain I Have a big issue with one of my new engines and their is no such thing as customer service any moore,I dont care who the manufacture is.Sad to say but its true.

    These guys are not back until the 5th of Jan. The mechanics at the Dealership i bought it from are also away till the 5th....... I approached 3 other Merc Dealers 2 didnt want to know about it as i bought it elsewhere. The third was happy to help out immeadiatly. And i thought Merc was a network of Dealerships which honoured ther warranty nationwide.
    I guess there aint too much loose change in the warranty dept!!!!!!!!

    Thanks to Andrew Short Marine in Sydney ,
    i am back on the water.........
    The CRANK ANGLE SENSOR was the culprit to my problem.....
    Was told it took 15 minutes to change....
    All this bloody technology!!!!!!
    I want my smelly Carbs with high emissions back LOL..
