update ; 42'bobby sullivan

hey finrazr, yes it is going to be a raised helm area about 3 to 4 steps up from the cockpit. then the captains area is going to be another step up from the sitting area like the buddy davis expresses. Yes i agree i want good visibility for my captain, when not in the tower.

Good luck with the build. I'm partial to the express style. It keeps you in the action and not just driving the bus and if you want to get a break just climb up into the tower.

I see he builds a fully framed boat.

What's the lay up schedule on the hull?

Any Pics?

Update #2 Bobby sullivan

This is the bow section completely framed.

(021)
This is a pic of the blocking Bobby Sullivan uses between each frame on the sides, along the keel and the last set of blocking will go along the top from the stern right to the bow.

(022)
Here they are glassing the frames in the engine room for strength.

(023)
The plywood screwed to the frames are called gussets, these are used for strength and to prevent twisting of the frame.

(025)
Top view looking down before the bow Kerlins are put on.

(026)
Looking through the boat from the stern to the bow.

(028)
Different view of boats bow.

(new 002)
Bow deck getting famed with kerlins. The bow of this boat is approx. 18 feet. With 16.5 feet of interior space.

(new 003)
Kerlins getting installed, and fastened to gussets.

UPDATE: 42 Bobby Sullivan

Hey Alex,
To make all the curves you see, they glue together 2 x 10 and they have a pattern to cut all the different curves. Bow frames, bow frame decking etc. Then it is all sanded and faired. Pretty amazing!
