Thats right! I was the one that actually put your Ricky boat into charter. She's also a great boat. Caught about a 350# blue one on her. Couldn't get her to back down, so we had to chase her down. The crew were some friends of Stuart M. from E. city. Have you sold that rig yet?

The truth be known--- we fix all handling problems with more dyno power (HP) these days---- poor the coal to her and let'er eat in a following sea, she'll straighten right on out

"Our rough water is a bit more tricky than yours, methinks"

Methinks the OB's are called the grave yard of the Atlantic for a reason.

My thoughts

I own two Carolina style boats and what is posted has some merit to it. One is the older Harkers plank style with no deadrise at stern and the other carries the vee all the way back. The older style with no deadrise aft is hell in a following sea when it is nasty and but our newer cold molded boat other runs great in a following sea with a modest vee in the stern. Both run very well in a head sea. I have no personal history with Sullivan boats so I cannot comment on them. I have fished on some other boats that carry lots of vee to the stern and they are no fun if you drift or at anchor in a decent sea so there is a price to pay for a boat that carries lots of vee to the stern. Most of the boats like this are troll only boats in my opinion and are designed for this but we do lots of drifting and anchoring so a modest vee in the stern works best for us. I would think around 9-11 degrees would be the most I would ever want on a boat in the stern for the around type of fishing we do. Running in nasty conditions 3-25 miles to the fishing ground is a lot different than running 70-90 miles so where you do most of your fishing makes a difference in the hull design that will work best for you and I chose the Carolina style and could not be happier. We fish around 1600 hours a season on our two boats so the fuel issue also is important and the Carolina boats do help some in this area due to their overall lighter weight.

Hey Fish Skipper, Haven't sold her yet, still do some chartering. I have a couple serious interests in her, should sell by the spring. You have anyone interested in her. I already put the word out i would book her for one year for the new owner, about 60 to 80 charters. Alittle incentive to get a new business going for someone. And I priced her right. Will do alittle better for a local boy.

Caveman Sportfishing I agree with you about the diff. deadrises Bobbys boats are right in the 8 to 10 degree deadrise range.
Ive seen your boats down in capemay years ago. I had a slip over at the canyon club Marina. Good looking rigs. The carolina boats stick out like soar thumbs up there in N.J. Amongst all the production boats. They are eye catchers. Nice chat.

You consider your technical advice to one of the best boat builders on the East Coast mature? That is almost as funny as your initial post. Don't worry, I will never grow up, old maybe, but not up.

THANKS for sharing the process with us CB&T...We do appreciate it. Even if Florida Dickie can build a better ride. Please continue.
