Im going to say the bottom paint is definatly a problem but not the listing problem. Does your bilge pump kick on when you stop and start again? The boat could have water laying up in the stringers or grid and wen you slow the baotr doem the water wsaes over enough to get to a bolge pump. This happens alot cause those limber holes that are drilled through the stringers are down by the center of the hull. If you have water leaking in your hull to deck joint or through the deck somwhere so that when it drips through it is goign to drip into those grids that dont drain down to the pump. When you start speeding up and slowing down the water splashes out. Theh reason why I say this is because if it was something on the bottom it would do it all the time and get worse at higher speeds. That boat has saddle gas tanks that drain into a belly feeder tank, or just a belly tank? Keep giving me info I know I can figure it out.

Pitch Bait,
You may be on to something. Like I said the boat is still in winter storage and I'm most likely looking at 2 months before I'm in the water again. I don't remember if the bilge pump does what you are asking, but I do remember that sometimes I would find water in the port side storage compartment in the V berth under the cushions. It's weird because I have no idea how it gets in. No trace of water anywhere else, cushions are dry, etc. The water is fresh, not salt, so I thought that maybe it was just condensation. Its not alot, but maybe the rain is also getting in the port side and laying up in the stringers like you suggest. How do you find a water leak? Needle in a haystack. I've already resealed the porthole windows and hatch. The boat is a Sea Hunt Victory. Thanks.

For the trim Tabs you got my vote for the Lencos. They are easy to instal and react instantly and they should hide your issue, but I think Pitch is on to something. Its like taking tylenol to cover a head ache every day, but not realizing its allergies that cause it. The Bennets are more reliable for many yeas, but you still may have hydrolic lines break or wear.

Is your boat pulling to a side, or easy to steer starboard but not port or the other way around? Something isn't making sense. I'd guess its water in the boat, maybe rain, that is pushing to one side while underway. I would also say that your prop is part of the problem, beacuse didn't you say you were stuck running a composite prop at the end of the season in another post. Even then I don't know if that's the hole issue. Good luck and keep us posted. Its very interesting.

The one way to find leaks in the bottom of the boat is to fill the hull with water. I do not recomend this with out the help of a boat yard You can only do it if you think the hole or crack is near the bottom. I would go over anyhting that you think could cause water intrusion. First dry out the entire hull, wet dry vac and then towel dry. Take a hose where ever you think it might leak and run water on it and then from the inside look and see if it is dripping. If you can see the under side then you have to let the water run for a while and check the bilge. After 5 minutes of running water you should see something (we are taliking about fresh rain water on top of the deck). I would check every hole drilled through that water can pass through. It will take a couple gallons to make the boat list, atleast 5. That is alot of fresh water if you think it might be rain and hose water coming in. You would be able to see that hole. Im starting to lean more to you motor or your bottom. If the motor is a quater of an inch high on one side that isnt goign to make much of a differance sitting but when you are running it will suck down. im opt sure. You will have to wait till it goes into the water. I hope im helping.

Thanks everyone,
I'm thinking that it may be the engine mounting now also. At rest the boat is level. If there was water on one side, shouldn't it not be level at rest. Also when I did my sea trial before purchasing the boat, I noticed that when the engine was tilted up and down it would rub against the transom mount, which they took care of. I was told that it was because the mount wasn't level on the transom. Perhaps when they adjusted it they could have been off by a 1/4 inch. I'll check that out when I get my spring service done and I am changing the prop. Again you guys from down south can't imagine what a winter we have had here. I'm on the coast of Massachusetts. Usually right on the coast we don't get as much snow as inland, or if we do get ocean effect snow it dosen't hang around as long because of the warming effect of the ocean. We still have about 1 -2 feet of hard packed snow on the ground and we are expecting more this week! I would like to be working on my boat. I have a 17' CC Sea Hunt that I will be selling and would like to wax it, etc. Right now I can't even get to it.

Title, you guys definitely got whacked hard this year! I'm assuming your on the Cape based on the 1 to 2' of snow you said you still have

We got whacked good on the south coast of RI but you guys caught the worst edges out there! I can actually see grass now lol, especially with all the rain.

No Formie, believe it or not. I'm on the North Shore. We got hit bad too. It's raining now, but supposed to turn to snow later on. They say another 3-5". In a couple of weeks my yard will be a giant mud pit. Now if only I can find some hot chicks to wrestle in it.

I forgot that you guys got hit bad too, but now that you mention it, I remember when I wa sin Canada snowmobiling, hearing that Boston had got hit hard again, and when I called back to my area, it sounded like we got less than Boston.

RI is at 50" total this year, with our average yearly total being 27". Funny, because it sounds like a lot, and is, but it didn't hang around as much as many years when we got much less! I didn't get much "local" snowmobilign in this year. Of course, it didn't help that i blew up my Phazer on the first run this year and had to do a motor swap LOL.

If you find some hot chicks to mud wrestle in that yard, let me know...maybe I can incorporate that into my buddy's upcoming bachelor party

This is a great thread here guys. When I get to think about all the different little things out there that can have a hudge affect on boats; it just blows my mind away. Listening to Pitch think things out step by step really got my interest. Its damn near as exciting as hearing all the cool fishing info!
