Cleaner Wax

Hey Tim,

I have found that if you clean off the soot before it dries it is easier to get it looking good. While fishing, i will periodically get a brush and hit the transom. If that doesnt work, use Cleaner Wax.

Spray Nine..always worked for me..on 892 Detroit Diesel soot..and keep it waxed..the spray nine didn't kill the wax right away as other harsh cleaners will.

supercoat surface treatment, cleans off the soot leaves a nice polished surface , only problem you have to do it once a month, but it works great and real reral easy to use.

In my opinion you have 2 choices for this problem ,clear coat or nothing ,any detergent worth it's weight will strip off wax
clear coated you only need a rag and most of the time no soap

We use alittle acid and a wirebrush. Sometimes we will mix wax in with the acid to replace any that gets taken off. We taped the wire brush to a gaff so we can get down to the water line.

On a serious note we use simple green on our transom and that swab it mop.

here's a dumb question...

the engine's,they're wheeled correctly, yes ??? no problems with the after coolers being clogged ???
normally, this is why soot appears on the transom...

I have yet to find a wax that does not hold soot. Collonite pre-wax cleaner and no wax has been my practice for years. Perhaps some one will add to this thread with a wax that does not hold soot that I may be able to use. Quality application of clear coat certainly is an asset to appearance above anything that I am aware of.
