Transducer Question
Alright I have a question??
Last year I purchased a 25' Carolina Classic the bottom of the boat was bottom painted. The transducers are 600w airmar p66 transom mounts and were also painted with the bottom paint would this cause any problems in reception. I lose bottom around 300-400' trolling. I assume it is because of 600w instead of 1kw but didn't know if the paint was hurting anything
Also has anybody use the shoot thru hull airmar 1kw
what about any info on the airmar 1kw transom mount transducer.
I want to upgrade to a 1kw and I think I would like a shoot thru better than a transom mount and do not want to do thru hull. Anybody know somebody who can install a shoot thru 1kw airmar around the wilmington to morehead area.
THanks KevinTaylor

Anthony's Ark is a blowboater
Regular bottom paint will definitely adversely affect the performance of a transducer. MDR make a transducer paint that will keep growth off without affecting the performance.

I use a green machine
remove the bottom paint and retry, must use water based bottom paint on any new type transducer, as far as a shoot thru, is your hull all glass or cored? pain to install in cored hull. new thru hulls/ tilted element are cheap and easy to install unlike shoot thru.
