Ok, I want to invest in a thru hull transducer for my 24' CC boat. I have a Garmin 4208 and a Airmar P66 transome mount at the present time. But I want to be able to see the structure while I'm going from one point to another at 30 knots. I fish mainly in 50 - 400 feet of water here in FL.
What is the best thru hull transducer for the electronics I have?
I just installed an AirMar B164 in a World Cat. A friend also has this model installed in a cat & loves it. can read bottom in 1000 ft of water, with excellent, clear readings thru the water column.
This unit is compatible with the Garmin 4000 series, requires no fairing and the spacer/block is included. VERY SIMPLE install. small hole too, 3.75 inch hole...and the right price. http://airmartechnology.com/airmar20...All&PageNo=500
another friend is a tech--does sales & installs. got me the right price & I installed it myself

Dyllan...I have the Raymarine A65 on my 23 Welcraft. This spring I purchased the Airmar A60B Tilted Element It uses no fairing block, so I don't worry about it when I am trailering the boat from place to place. I have been very happy with it so far this season. It shows very clear images even at speeds up to 40 mph. It shows depth and temp..no speed, but I go by the gps speed. Check out the airmar site listed by reel fool to get the model that fits your gps.
I purchased my ducer from B.O.E. marine (an active member of this site). They were very easy to deal with and had amazing turn around and one of the best prices I could find. I had it in about 3 days. Always like to support a member. They are in Maryland and I am in Jersey.
I got the B164 and in the box came 2 thick rubber washers for the unit... now in the instructions there is no mention of these big rubber washers??? I guess they go under the nut and spacer??? any guesses ,,, I plan on putting this in tomorrow after buying a 3.75" whole saw.... damn that's scary
Well the rubber gaskets are to stop the vibrations and they go on first then the spacer then the nut... I used an entire tube of 5200 and then 5% of another one for reassurance... thanks
