Looking forward to reading your book JMS. I've seen some funny things happen at the boat ramp and we've done some of them
But my dad and I have had plenty of practice with our old boat and he's pretty good at it. I'm just wondering if I need to get some towing mirrors or if it's possible to see around the boat with the ones I have. ![]()

And it's a good idea to actually take your wife out in that empty Walmart parking to let her tow, back and otherwise manage the trailer with and without the boat attached - when boating is not the main objective. Othewise - you risk looking like every other Touron - mid July, Saturday or Sunday - EVERYbody in Greensboro* has their trailer parked at the WB Boat ramp and are out and about enjoying the blazing sun....then 3:30 approaches - and with it dark clouds spouting gigajoules of white zig zags....and the dash is on. It's your turn to approach - and there for the first time ever it's occurred to some that you need for your wife to be the one you drop on the finger pier to get the truck. One such scene comes to mind from years ago when a guy in a nice Bayliner bobbed in the rain and current of the wind blown ICW - all the while using the PA function on his CB.....YES a CB on the ol' Bayliner.... to "coach" his wife with understanding instructions like, "The OTHER right, dammit!" Poor lady - many a good marriage was ended on that ramp, I'm sure... *Please note that I personally believe Greensboro to be the bastion of fine inland people - for some reason, my dad always used Greensboro as a catch all euphemism (he never swore) for anyone not from Wilmington. In a way, he was sympathetic as I heard him say many times (as a patience tool, you understand), "Poor fellow, he must be from Greensboro". Being a weekend warrior myself these days.... I guess I are from Greensboro, too. Sorry Dad. |

TriAngler,
Excuse me, but where does one find an EMPTYWal-Mart parking lot? All the Wal-Marts I've seen are so full you couldn't find a place to park a 65 VW, unless you follow someone out of the store to where they are parked, help them load their groceries, and wait for them to leave. I am trying to get my wife to learn to handle the trailer. I plan on using the big parking lot at the carrier piers at the Norfolk Naval Base. FredHead Sea Fox 230WA Just Relaxin' |
