trailer tires what to get??
i need new tires for my boat trailer. it is a dual axle 9500# rated with torsion axles. tires on there now are only 4 years old and though not dissatisfied i think they could have worn better. they are carlisle ST225/75D 15. any recommendations on what to get or stay away from? radials versus bias ply?
thanks for your input. Barry |

Radials and Goodyears. You won't get em cheap but what's riding on top of them is not cheap either. I'm kicking myself for bargain hunting on the last set. Now I will get to do it again. Some bargain

If you got 4 years out of a set of Carlisles you did well. I prefer radial to the bias plys. The radials seem to wear better for me and the bias plys seems to always need airing up. I did pretty well with the Goodyear brand.

I can't complain with my Carlisles that a "friend of mine" cut on me one day (can't drive a trailer worth a $h1t)...they have held up well so far......
But from what I have read, they suck....... I guess if i were to replace them, I would consider otherwse? ![]() Last edited by 74Formula233; 05-18-2005 at 09:35 AM. |

If I were in the market for trailer tires, I would focus on the load rating of each tire when comparing them.
Just my 2 cents. |

Well i settled on towe master tires. same size and rating as i had before but in a radial. these are the generic brand of goodyear marathons. will be getting them installed today when i get off work. price was right and rating was where i needed it to be. thanks for the input fellas.
