I bought a new trailer for my 26CC in Feb 08, it is a 7600Lb rating dual axle, loadstar, for around 4200$ in Maryland. The trailer is decent, not nice by any means, but it has done 8-10 trips from MD to the outer banks a year, 600 miles round trip and plenty to Ocean City 240 miles round trip. No issues.

They have a 6800 lb model for a little less, that might suit you better.

What kind of boat are you are you looking to put on it?

For the vacations and towing distance are we talking from Maine to Florida type travel or no where near that far.

Having the right or wrong trailer for long distances will make or break your trip. You can have calm and casual or a nail biting experience lol

75% will be from Ocean City to the Chesapeake bay.

Big bait, just my thought as someone that runs a trailer up and down the road 4 or 5 times a week with 80 mile round trips with trips up to couple hundred miles at times...
    Aluminum is a must!!!

Go at least 2 pound sizes bigger that you boat... (IE, 3000 pound boat, 5000 pound trailer is a must for me)
Go with a torsion bar axel as springs break, more often in cold weather...

Get your spare mounted with a hub/ bearing on you trailer, if you pull a boat, you will have a bearing go out on you sooner or later.

Carry all the tools you will need to change a hub out, including a torch with map gas, if you like, I can give you a list. As others keep a ditch bag on their boat, I keep one in the truck for the trailer.

There is nothing worse than being on the side of the road broken down and not having what you need to fix it...

The next bite on a jig.
Thats good advice from Capt. Lee. Bigger is always better when it comes to trailers.

I paid appx 5k for my double axle load rite with powerwinch. I believe it was a 7600 lb model. I never had a problem with it.
