    Weight

    Be sure to know exactly (as close as possible) what the weight of the boat is. Dry weight of the boat, weight of engine(s), fuel, water and gear. Add 10%.
    As said before you want have some extra capacity. A packed hub with spare is a must. Torsion axles. Aluminum frame.
    be sure to specify good quality disc brakes. The Kodiak cadmium is the best. If you can afford the Kodiak SS even better.
    Don't skimp on your trailer.
    Also be sure to understand the manufacturers ratings. Some will use the carrying capacity while others use GVWR rating (boat plus trailer).
    I like Loadmaster bunk trailers personally.
