I put a 2 x 4 between the motor and bracket and let the motor down- which takes the pressure off the hydraulic cylinder when bouncing down the road.

As far as putting the motor in gear- the lower unit is filled to the top with gear lube so my personal opinion is that it should not matter- also, as many times that I have towed a boat and been behind other boats, I have never seen any propellers spinning while being towed.

tackletrap, i have been towing for over 30 years and have always used the motor stop like you do. never had any problems w/ anything this way.(knock on wood) on my smaller duck boat i keep the motor down but w/ an old axe handle to keep it up high enough as not to let the skeg drag the highway.

Towing with boars would be hard enough, doing the same towing without said boars would really suck. While not being the prefered animal for towing the boars would make the towing easier. But hey that's just my opinion on towing without the boars.

Nope Hoon...it's towing WITHOUT boars. Up north here we don't have much in the way of wild boars. So we always tow without them. I've tried towing with wild turkey but the police don't like it. They want me to walk lines in the middle of the road and then want to take my truck away. Anyways, I've also tried some other critters like dear and such but they just don't work the same as boars.
