    Throwback NE Clinkers

I see alot of Midatlantic wood boats. Here's the boat I grew up fishing. Joe Clayton out of Keansburg NJ built this in the 60's for my grandfather. It had a pair of Navy surpluss hercules pancakes 210 hp. For its time she moved out, on the pins she did 24 knots. 38 foot x 13, round bilged boat.

That's a time when a boat's interior looked like a boat and not a plush padded 5 star hotel.

My uncle had a wooden boat in the 60's. Similar size. Brings back memories.

    Love the lapstrake.

    Somehow,

We lost sight of what boats were meant to be, machines that did the job. I know this is just my opinion, but EVERYTHING you add to a basic boat, makes it that much more unreliable. More it has, the more can break. I remember seeing my first 16kt workboat! I'll never forget how we all thought that thing was flying!!! Little did we know! Frank
