    Synthetic vs. Non-Synthetic ( regular oil )

I bought a boat with twin 3208-T cats. I was told by the owner to use 15-40 synthetic when adding or changing the oil. The motors have approx. 1300 hrs. I thought you had to break-in a new engine with synthetic oils ??

IMO, synthetics are a waste of money in any diesel application especially marine diesels.
Change out the oil/filters every 100-125 hours either way.

And I'll ask this, when was the last time any of us heard about or had a marine diesel engine wear out because of using regular engine oil?

Save your $money$, regular oil is fine.
