Anyone have one? Like it, hate it? Why?
I hear they are quite quiet.......and that is all so far.
Next boat we are looking at has two of them and they come with 6 year warranties.......just don't know much about them.

The Suzuki's are AWESOME.... I have several friends who have repowered with them and they are all amazed by the power, torque, and fuel savings...
You can contact Doug or Jimmy Whalen at Whalen's Marine in Chesapeake, they are local dealers here in Virginia. They can give you the straight on why they have a better product.
I also suggest you ask the dealer for a test ride, I am sure that will help you make an educated decision..
Happy Hunting,
Thanks.
I would definitely take the boat for a test ride first. These motors are going to be brand spankin' new and like most things....Out of the crate, they will run like champs but in the long haul will they hold up?
i hate to break up the love fest...but....personally,i don't like the 4 stroke outboards...there's much more upkeep that the 2 stroke counterparts...
if i were you,i would look into the yamaha hpdi's or the bombardier e-tec engines...these engines are equally as fuel efficient and,as int he case of the e-tec,just as quiet...
i have a customer's boat at my shop,it's rigged with 140hp suzuki engines, the owner is going to repower-he's unhappy with the performance from these engines....
you also want to look into service,as in,who's the local dealer...how close are they ??these are all important factors concering the choice of engines...a 6year warranty witht he closest dealer being 1hr away from your dock may mean a real tough time getting service when it's needed.....
I have a pair of 2002 df140's and they Have been flawless for 4 years. Oil change, new impellers, new plugs, lower unit oil change, 3 hours and $150.00 to do both.
Jawz what size boat does your customer have his on? they power my 25 mako cuddy to 43mph and I think they have plenty of "balls"
25 knots and 2.3 Nmpg

1987 24' north coast...powdered by a pair of 140 suzuki 4 strokes...the thing does 20kts...![]()
then to make a bad situation worse, someone has repropped the rig-now it's waaaaaaay overwheeled...he's gonna repower with 175 suzuki 4 strokes...the boat has sunk at harbor view marina in cape may...just pulled the fuel tank, for replacement....
these 4 stroke engines may appear to be real attractive, however, they do have waaaay more moving parts-rememeber this...the up keep is much more for these engines, then there's the weight factor to contend with...
pound for pound,in my opinion, the best power is the yamaha hpdi or the bombardier e-tec...
Thanks for all the updates from everyone.......nice to see both good and bad comments.....nothing is ever perfect or it would be the only one ever sold.
IN LOOKING AT PRICING, THERE ISN'T MUCH PRICE DIFFERENCE IN ANY OF THE MOTORS, YAM,EVEN,MERC,AND SUZK, ALL WITHIN A THOUSAND OR SO, THIS IS FOR 250 HP BY THE WAY, ALSO IT SEEMS SOME BOATS RESPOND BETTER THAN OTHERS TO THE USE OF 4 STROKES, WHY IS THIS, WEIGHT? HUL DESIGN, IM SURE SOME OF THE PROS CAN HELP WITH THIS, NOW I'VE NEVER BEEN ON A BOAT WITH MERCS OR ZUKES, HOWEVER I'VE EXPERIENCED THE 250 HDPI AND THE 250 4 STROKE, THE HDPI'S WERE ON A 33' HYDRA SPORT, RAN LIKE A CHAMP, MAYBE A BIT UNDERPOWERED, THE 4 STROKES ON A NEW 28' SOUTHPORT, ALSO A BEAST, ME IM HOPING SANTA WILL DELIVER A PAIR OF 250 E-TECS FOR ME. SEEMS THE SERVICE THE LOCAL DEALER GIVES IS BY FAR THE BEST AROUND.JUST SEEMS HE CARES ABOUT WHAT HE'S PUTTING ON PEOPLES BOATS. PLEASE, I SAID LOCAL DEALER... DEFINATLY NOT TRYING TO BUST STONES HERE. HAPPY ENGIN HUNTING TO ALL....DAVE
Rode a 31 Jupiter with twin 250 suzuki's. They ran perfectly and flawlessly. Incredibly quiet motors.
