I run a 225 Suzuki 4 stroke. Same as the 250 only the 250 has bigger jets and injectors and a little different gearing in the lower unit. LOVE MINE DEARLY, it changed my mind on 4 strokes all together. Very reliable for the past year I have owned and run.
One full day at the stream 45-60 miles out running 18-20 knots out and trolling all day and running 23-25 knots back in only burned a lil less than a 1/4 of a 110 gallon tank. Price is cheaper than most 4 strokes too. As long as you do not throw the controls to the console it will sip gass. If you run above 4800 RPM's I have seen about the same economy as one of the new 2 strokes. I turn a 16" diameter prop too which gives almost the same out of the hole as a comparable 2 stroke. But the 2 stroke will smoke my butt in the long run while drinking about 1.5 times more fuel.

Fished out of WB NC last year 71 miles out hauling the mail on the ride out 25 knots and trolled all day and double hauled the mail back in 33 knots and still burnt only a tad less that 3/4 of a 110 gallon tank.

    The Suzuki's are awesome motors!!!

Contact Doug Whalen at Whalen's Marine, he is a Suzuki dealer here in Chesapeake, Va. and is very knowledgable. He will answer all your questions, especially about the shaft length. He has the motors at great prices right now.

His number is (757)718-3539, tell him Lucian referred you to him, he's a personal friend of mine and one heck of a good guy.

    Happy Hunting,
    Lucian
