Byrd,
According to a '71 Seabird brochure posted on the Seabird owner's site http://users.boardnation.com/~badger...ay;threadid=16, the hull dry weight is 3200# for the V-24 Mariner, which is the CC version I have. My deck and gunwale cap is balsa cored, and I believe some boats came with optional balsa-cored hull sides. The interesting thing about Seabirds is that the liner is the structural support, so there are no traditional stringers. These boats are also interchangeable in that the liner is the same for CC, runabout, cuddy, etc. There is a toe rail along the inside edge of the gunwale cap that allowed the mfg to bolt in the various deck configs. Pretty ingenious.

Some members on the Seabird site have removed the liner and added stringers upon restoration. My boat is very original, that is, never been restored. It was converted to an OB 6-8 years in FL and brought up here to MA by the previous owner, so the transom is in good shape, and the fuel tank is only 5 years old. It has a Wellcraft console in it so I have no idea what the original console looked like. I suggest posting your pics over on the Seabird site to see if some of the experts can help you more than I can.

Finesse and Wahoo,
Thanks for the welcome.

I'd say your hull is a Seabird!

My dad just bought this boat, we just got back from picking it up. The boat seems to be in pretty good shape. It was about a 750 mile trip for us one way .
