    Steiger Crafts.....

Does anyone have any info on them? A buddy of mine showed me a 23' CC online that was a few years old and it looks nice, but I have no idea of ride, quality, fit and finish, reputation in the industry. Anyone ever fished a steiger? How would it compare to some of the more common names like Contender, Regulator, SeaCraft. I don't know if its a fair comparison because I know nothing about Steiger Crafts! So help a bro out! Tight lines

Stieger don't really compare to a Contender or Regulator. The fit & finish is on the raw side, it very utilitarian - the manufacturer has roots building for commercial purposes. I have been out on the 23 many times & the boat can pound - not too much deadrise. They are built like tanks. They now offer some deep v models which have been getting good reviews - a friend has their 25'DV and loves the boat.

I had A 1988 25 Block Island, was a great bay and near shore boat, she pounded badly in anything over 2 feet,we call them
the "kidney chopper".nothing compare to any boat mention above totally differnt boats, the older 23 CC is wet, and only got I think 14 of dead rise,
as mention the new deep V models rids very good and anything made after 1990 IIRC carry's lifetime hull warranty, also you can call the company direct and can get Al Steiger on the phone very nice guy, or log on the website and get some info as well.

I had a 23 Chesapeake from the late 80s, most were powered w/single V4 outbourds, I repowered it with a 225 yamaha. It was fast and fun to zip around the bay with.
It held 170 gallons of fuel. The boat had only about 6 to 8 inches of freeboard at the transom little to say i was scared the firt time I went sharking with the boat, one good wave and i think that's all it would have taken. also I could not turn the boat in tight spaces with any kind of wind. I traded it in on a 25 whaler. I never went on a CC version, but check the transom freeboard. I would also stay in the bay.
    Good Luck
