    Question Stabilizer life-span????

so how long does stabilizer last? I treated my 236 gallon tank close to two years ago for winterization with proper amounts of Sta-bil. Since I've been far away for long periods of time I never put the boat back in the water! so the boats been sitting winterized for close to 18-19 months. The tank was treated again this past Thanksgiving with sta-bil again as it was a recommendation. So...should I be worried about the fuel when i start her up in a few weeks? Do I have to have the fuel taken out? Can I just monitor the fuel filters and run the old gas out? I'd like to just monitor all the systems, add some additional sta-bil and run the old gas out. But...if this is really not smart PLEASE LET ME KNOW! The last thing I want to do is clog fuel lines or blow motors or who knows what else could happen! Any products u guys would recommend to better my chances? I'm nervous about the gas situation i have but excited to get some blood on the decks again! tight lines everyone!!!

Most stabilizers will treat fuel for about a year. We make chemical-based stabilizers and enzyme-based stabilizers - the enzyme-based ones keep working year after year.
I've used 3-year old gas treated with Star Tron in my Yamaha 225 with zero problems.

    Star Tron mixed with Stabil???

    Bill,

Is it ok to add the Star Tron after already having put the Stabil in the gas this past fall. I understand they work on different principals but can they work simultaneously or synergistically? I do not have a degree in chemical engineering and so I don't want to accidentally mix a bomb.

    Thanks,

You can mix Star Tron and any other fuel additive. Star Tron is 95% petroleum distillates so it "is" fuel. The 5% by volume that is the enzymes is what does all the work.
