I still can't get used to the salon window
This is the one I can't get use to. That window down there, throws it all off. From what I hear Momma don't like not being able to see out. So I guess what Momma wants Momma gets.
This one backed in at the WMO this year. I believe it has three ips pods on her. Capt backed her in with just finger tips on the joy stick.
Thanks
Just asking;
Have any IPS boats won any major tournaments yet?
I have yet to have anyone convince me that a "pod" system (IPS or Zues) is the way to go. From my education at sea, simpler is better. With the torque loss, complication in drive system, and the numerous "fault" code's that they can send, etc..... I just don't see anyway they can be more robust, dependable, fixable, cheaper to own, have longevity over conventional shaft to prop system that have been out for ever. I have nothing against a better "mousetrap", but this one is beyond me. Aqua jet propulsion was the anwser to all thing's wrong when they came out. In some application's a jet is great I agree, but for the average boat owner it's a no go. Please, someone enlighten me!!!!! Not trying to start an arguement, just trying to see the logic here. Frank
I was told that some builders actually refuse to build a pod boat. I guess some still don't have much faith in them. Yet anyways..
Just not a SPENCER anymore! I'm sure she's nice and all but...I am not a fan of the "futuristic" Carolina builds I have seen lately.
Frank,
I heard @ the Akl boat show that you have to haul an IPS powered boat out for oil change etc & that it cannot be done while in the water,I dont know that if its the truth,also this builder was complaining about the number (12or 13) of bevelled gears in these pod drives...that sea water will eventually ingress into them one day.Also the amount of wear & tear,strain etc he was talking about.Just heard these talk!!
