    Southport Boatworks Press Release

Dear Southport Owners and Friends -

I wanted all of you to be among the first to know that American Global Yacht Group (AGYG) has entered into an agreement to purchase Southport. This is great news for Southport as it gives us a strong partner to grow the business and develop new products.

Many of you know AGYG because they operate our largest dealership in Grasonville and Ocean City, MD. The also have offices in Fort Lauderdale and brokerages in Washington state, Toronto and Sydney. AGYG builds and markets Outer Reef, Newport and Molokai Strait yachts internationally. You can find out more about AGYG at agyg.com.

We will continue to build Southports here in Leland with essentially the same crew. One big change is that Alton Herndon has resigned. I know that many of you have dealt with Alton personally and know him well. He has several opportunities in the Wilmington area so ,hopefully, he'll be close at hand. We'll all miss his knowledge and leadership.

Val Jenkins now heads Southport operations. As he held this position at Chris-Craft, Cigarette and Black Fin, we are in good hands. We will now be concentrating all efforts on bringing a new, larger center console to market. I know that many of you are interested in that product and I hope to get plenty of input from you.

As always, thanks for your support and I look forward to your comments.

    Cordially,
    Frank Longino

    Frank,
That's great news. I have always like the look of your boats, never had the opp. to ride on one unfortunately. Maybe one day that will change if I can ever afford one, or more likely become friends with someone who owns one...

How big are you talking about going?

Has there ever been any discussions at Soutport Boatworks about offering a diesel, IPS maybe?

I only ask because I am curious. I would love to see more of the big center consoles with the new IPS drives.

Best of luck with the new ventures!

    Doug from AGYG (aka flndrpndr23),
Did not mean to confuse everyone with the post. I posted this for Frank Longino of Southport Boatworks.
I don't think there will be an IPS offering. I do know that it will probably be based around twin Yamaha 350's.
We will be looking for input from current owners for design and features ideas.
This is an exciting time !

    Tommy,
Let me think about that.................... No, I don't think that will happen !

Pete and I took his new 28 on its maiden voyage. Fished the San Gil wreck. Some small Sea Bass and 3 keeper Tog. The biggest being about 8 #'s.
First time on a 28 for any amount of time. It is a beast !!!
