    Some cool old motors

I was down at my buddies shop yesterday and I went up in the loft to check out a two hp motor that he gave me for my dink that I purchased at the AC boat show.

I took some pictures of a few motors that he has laying around collecting dust up there. Some pretty cool stuff so I thought I would share.

The last one is my new dink motor.

There's few there that have some age, but most in the pic's are still Pups...

I've got few Evinrudes from the 40's... A 50hp Evinrude Stormboat engine that was used to push 8 man platoon boats to the beach in the south seas. She's a 4 cylinder, with 4.5 gal tank on top with a an open flywheel. I had her on a 16ft Lowe Alum Jonboat. With 120lbs of Barnacle my Chessy out on the bow it would push the boat 39mph like a rocket sled on rails. Wrap the rope start with nothing but forward gear.

One day we were pulling up to the beach where we put it in the water and a clam guy with the same boat was saying to his buddy's....look at that old piece of shit... I said warm up your brand new 4 stroke 60hp Zuke and let's go.. With Barn standing on the bow and it took a while to get the magnito lever set while you give her throttle and he was 100yrd ahead and he could see us coming and I watched him twist harder and harder on his throttle. We caught him and she went by his new Zuke by 6-7mph on the exact same boat and he wasn't carrying a 120lb dog... Trust me, they weren't calling it a piece of shit when we got back to the beach...

I've got a pair of 22.5hp Evinrude Speeditwins that run perfect also... My brother has an original 50hp Stormboat engine that's still in the military WWII crate...

If anyone is interested in old outboards... http://www.aomci.org/ This is where you go...
