Unfortunately I do not get to run my boat near as often as I would like to. I was thinking about getting an inexpensive solar battery charger. Figuring to hook it up to at least 1 battery. This way I figure that it should be able to start after extended periods of non use. Does anyone know if it work or cause any damage. My other thought is to get a portable power source that I can keep in the truck in case of emergency. Some what clueless any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Barry
I actually have both the solar charger and a jump start that I take with me when I go out.... just in case.....
I connect the solar charger to the battery when I get back to the dock each time. I have been using it for about 5 years and has never caused a problem and keeps it "topped" off.
Thanks CB
My boat is on a trailer I guess I could mount it on to the guide post of the trailer. Can you rig the solar charger for 2 batteries or do you go with 2 chargers? Any recommendation on the size of the charger output.
Thanks again.
OK just bought the following items:
==================================================================
Ordered: 1 SBC1008 Sunsei SE-500 Solar Battery Charger
Ordered: 1 SBC1010 Sunsei Charge Controller CC-10000
Ordered: 1 SP1004 Sunsei Solar Grip
The solar panel is 14.5" x 14.2" it is a 12 volt 7.5 watt 500 ma
The charge controller is to prevent over charging and the bracket will mount to the t-top. The question is if I connect this to 1 battery and put my battery selector switch on BOTH, will it charge both batteries? I think it should. I just want to confirm my thinking.
